Many prestigious investment firms work together with The Ben Graham Centre for Value Investing to offer Dr. Athanassakos' students monetary prizes in recognition of their outstanding achievement in his Value Investing classes and/or in value oriented projects and research. Here you will find information on these companies and the prizes they award.

The Chou Associates Management Inc. Prize

The Chou Associates Management Inc. Prize recognizes the best MBA value investing valuation and recommendation reports and/or the HBA students with the highest grade in Dr. George Athanassakos’ Value Investing classes.

This prize has been previously given to the winning teams of Professor Athanassakos' MBA classes on December 8, 2006 and on August 23, 2007. The prize will be granted again on April 17, 2009. This time it will be given to the top HBA students.

 

The Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd Prize

The Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd. Prize is given annually and recognizes the best HBA and MBA value investing valuation report in Dr. George Athanassakos’ Value Investing classes.

The winning teams are selected by Professor Athanassakos and are awarded the amount of $1,000 each.

This prize has been previously given to the winning teams of Professor Athanassakos' classes in April 2005 and 2006, on August 23, 2007, April 28, 2008 and August 27, 2008. This is an ongoing prize and will be presented again on April 17, 2009.

 

The Giraffe Capital Corp. Prize

The Giraffe Capital Corp. Prize is presented to the students from Dr. Athanassakos' HBA and MBA Value Investing classes with the highest grade point average in the course.

April 28, 2008 marks the first year this prize has been awarded.

 

The Saxon Financial Prize

The Saxon Financial Prize is granted to the students from Dr. Athanassakos' MBA Value Investing classes with the highest grade point average in the course.

This prize was awarded on August 27, 2008 and will be given again on April 17, 2009.

 

The Stacey Muirhead Capital Management Ltd. Prize

The Stacey Muirhead Capital Management Ltd. Prize of $1000 is granted annually to one HBA student and one MBA student, who in the judgment of Professor Athanassakos, demonstrate exceptional promise in understanding and applying value investing concepts and techniques.
